Scubaspa Maldives: choose the scuba, spa or combined package

Compare the three seven-night Scubaspa packages, suite layouts, diving rules and airport connections. Yin and Yang are vessels; the package and route are separate choices.

Which Scubaspa Maldives package should you book?

Choose Scuba Holiday if diving is the priority, Spa Holiday if you do not want a diving programme, or Scuba & Spa Holiday if you want fewer dives alongside treatments. For seven nights, Scubaspa publishes up to 17 dives, eight treatments, or six dives and four treatments respectively. Each guest chooses a package; dives cannot simply be exchanged for treatments.

This makes Scubaspa worth comparing for a diver travelling with a non-diving companion, provided both want a boat-based holiday. The combined package is a poor match if you intend to join every available dive. The spa package is not an included full diving course.

What the package includes, and what still needs a quote

The package page includes accommodation with three meals daily, drinking water, coffee and tea, yoga, snorkelling with equipment, excursions and 5 GB Wi-Fi per cabin. Airport transfers are included on regular arrival and departure days only. The terms say dive totals can be reduced by weather, sea conditions or operational factors. “Up to 17” is a ceiling, not a guaranteed delivered total.

The general terms quote fares in US dollars per person sharing a suite, unless otherwise stated, and exclude applicable government taxes plus service and administration fees. Obtain an itemised total for your date, occupancy and chosen package. Tanks and weights being included does not establish free rental of the rest of your equipment, Nitrox, courses, extra treatments or drinks from the bar.

Yin and Yang are boats, not different holiday packages

Scubaspa identifies Yin as the yacht launched in 2013 and Yang as its sister yacht added a year later, described by the operator as identical. Do not treat either name as a separate level of scuba or spa inclusion. The booking needs to identify vessel, departure date, route, suite category, occupancy and each guest’s package.

The operator describes a separate 20-metre dive dhoni accompanying each yacht, carrying the equipment and compressors. Divers use that boat for the diving operation rather than treating the accommodation yacht’s stern as the only entry point. A fleet-level description is not confirmation of the vessel assigned to your departure.

Choose the suite by deck and bed arrangement

The accommodation page places Manta and Dolphin suites on the main deck, with panoramic oval windows. Manta includes four king-bed suites with twin options and one queen-bed suite; Dolphin has queen beds. The lower-deck Cowrie suite is in the bow with a queen bed and convertible sofa, while Sea Star suites have queen beds and opening portlights.

For two travellers needing separate beds, a named Manta twin arrangement is a more specific request than “a double suite”. For triple occupancy, the Maldives terms identify Cowrie suite 7 and Sea Star suite 10. Obtain the vessel-specific cabin number and actual bed configuration in the confirmation; do not assume all suites in a category are interchangeable. The website’s cabin description does not establish step-free access or which cabin will move least.

Certification: the regular package is not the Deep South threshold

The Maldives-specific terms require at least Open Water or equivalent for packages including diving, apart from guests taking a course. Scubaspa’s diving page requires a computer, prohibits solo and decompression dives, and restricts night dives and dives below 18 metres to advanced-certified divers. Its published maximum is 30 metres, subject to the diver’s qualification and other applicable limits.

The Deep South expedition has a more demanding description: advanced certification and at least 100 logged dives. Do not apply the regular package’s Open Water entry level to that expedition. The general terms make diving insurance mandatory and require the medical questionnaire; course participants with relevant positive responses need written physician clearance. These are operator conditions, not a personal assurance that a guest is fit for the route.

Match the route direction to the airport

The Maldives terms describe the regular Best of Maldives transfer as Male–Male through Velana International Airport (MLE). Deep South legs use different pairs: Male–Kooddoo (GKK), Kooddoo–Gan (GAN), Gan–Kooddoo and Kooddoo–Male. A transfer between the relevant airport and boat is not an included airline ticket between Male and the southern island.

The dated 2027 Deep South programme lists Male–Kooddoo for January 16–23, Kooddoo–Gan for January 23–30 and February 6–13, Gan–Kooddoo for January 30–February 6 and February 13–20, then Kooddoo–Male for February 20–27. The page headline extends to March 6 but does not itemise that final week in the retrieved detail. Do not infer its direction. These are published programme examples, not cabin availability or a confirmed Yin/Yang assignment.

Use the exact departure terms for solo stays and special cruises

The Maldives terms list a 25% single-stay supplement for ordinary cruises and 50% for Deep South, Christmas and New Year cruises. They separately list a 10% Deep South package supplement and 15% Christmas/New Year package supplement. These are different charges; a solo supplement is not the full solo fare. A special promotion may have different terms, so do not stack percentages into a payable quote without the operator’s calculation.

The standard seven-night timetable is Saturday–Saturday unless otherwise stated, with check-in from 13:00 and checkout at 08:45. The terms exclude children under ten; diving children aged ten or eleven require a chargeable private guide. Resolve special-cruise conditions, registration, flights and the applicable flying-after-diving interval before payment.

Is Scubaspa the right Maldives format?

Shortlist it if the onboard spa and a structured non-diving package solve a real problem for your travelling party. Compare a dive-focused liveaboard separately if your aim is the largest suitable dive allocation for the total fare, and compare a land-based stay if daily time ashore matters more than moving between atolls. Scubaspa’s package choice does not remove current exposure or guarantee any animal encounter.
