Tubbataha liveaboard season: choosing March, April, May or June
Use actual 2027 cruise dates to choose a Tubbataha window. Compare the season edges, Philippine Siren round trips and one-way transition voyages without assuming guaranteed weather.
Start with March to June; shortlist April and May first
The Tubbataha liveaboard season is concentrated in March to June. For a first search, shortlist April or May because they sit within the overlapping operator windows, then compare the actual boats and dates. That is a practical booking recommendation, not proof that a particular week has calmer seas or better shark sightings. Atlantis Adventurer describes its season as mid-March to early June. Philippine Siren’s current park-only calendar includes six-night departures from 16 March through 8 June 2027, the last returning on 14 June. A generic mid-March-to-mid-June rule therefore does not replace the named vessel’s schedule, permit or the captain’s weather decision.

| Compare | Timing decision | Useful interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| March | Early-season search; distinguish a park round trip from a transition voyage | Philippine Siren lists a 16 March 2027 park departure, while its 1 March transition starts at Mactan and lasts 13 nights |
| April | A central-season starting point if dates are flexible | Siren lists six-night departures on 6, 13, 20 and 27 April 2027; dates do not establish available cabins |
| May | Still within the main overlapping window; compare the full return date | Siren lists departures on 4, 11, 18 and 25 May 2027; the late-May trip returns 31 May |
| June | An edge-of-season choice requiring the exact programme | Siren lists 1–7 and 8–14 June 2027; Atlantis describes its own season only through early June |
| July to February | Do not assume a Philippines sailing means Tubbataha access | Atlantis allocates other periods to Visayas or Apo Reef/Coron; choose the actual regional programme instead |
What weather evidence does and does not tell you
Master Liveaboards’ Philippines FAQ describes the dry season as November to May and the rainy season as generally beginning in early June. It also notes that rain can occur in the dry season. This broad regional guidance helps explain why a June departure deserves different planning from an April one; it is not a Tubbataha crossing forecast or a measured month-by-month cancellation rate. The park authority describes the sea journey from Puerto Princesa as 10–12 hours. Weather therefore affects more than a short tender ride. Master’s route page explicitly allows changes for weather, logistics, regulations and guests’ experience, at the captain’s discretion. Choosing a date inside the usual season does not remove that exposure. There is no supported basis here to rank the listed weeks by guaranteed visibility, water temperature or probability of a whale shark encounter. Do not pay a premium on the assumption that an April label alone delivers those outcomes. Compare itinerary, cabin and booking terms first.

A cruise beginning on 1 March does not prove that its first dive is at Tubbataha. Master’s 1–14 March 2027 Tubbataha and More listing starts at Mactan. The 13-night programme links Cebu and Puerto Princesa and describes five to six days in Tubbataha alongside Visayas diving. It is not 13 nights of diving at the park. This can suit a diver who wants both regions and can use different arrival and departure airports. A six-night Puerto Princesa round trip is simpler if the park is the priority and time is limited. On either option, compare the first and last actual park diving days rather than inferring them from the departure month. The transition route advertises night dives outside Tubbataha while explicitly excluding night dives in the park. Do not transfer a whole-voyage dive total or night-dive promise to the Tubbataha portion.

For a standard park round trip, book Puerto Princesa airport, PPS, rather than assuming a Visayas joining instruction applies. Arriving the day before is a sensible buffer against a delayed domestic connection; the destination guide compares the actual operator check-in and hotel pickups. Master’s Puerto Princesa FAQ specifies 1pm embarkation and same-day flight arrival no later than midday. Its disembarkation is 9:30–10am and it says not to book a departing PPS flight before 12:30pm. Those are transport instructions, not a declaration that any diver may fly then: the required interval after diving depends on the actual last dive and applicable diving guidance. A date near the season edge also deserves clear cancellation and route-change terms. Establish what happens to the voyage, transfers and separately booked flights if weather changes the programme. Do not assume that travel insurance pays every weather-related loss.

Philippine Siren’s Tubbataha route requires Advanced Open Water or equivalent, 50 logged dives and comfort in currents. The operator describes exposed walls and plateaus; an April booking does not convert them into sheltered beginner diving. Its maximum daily programme is also not an obligation to take every dive. Before committing to dates, match your recent diving to the named boat’s acceptance conditions. Then compare complete quotes: the season itself does not tell you whether park fees, Nitrox, equipment or port costs are included. The destination and Philippines guides handle those boat and regional comparisons; this page’s calendar is for choosing when and which type of voyage to investigate. Dates and source wording were checked on 25 October 2026, not live cabin availability.
